Central Analytical Lab Services - Overview
The ECD Central Analytical Laboratory has been in operation since 1960 as an in-house technical and analytical support facility for Energy Conversion Devices (ECD) and its subsidiaries. Our expertise is now available to other companies and individuals. We are conveniently located in southeastern Michigan to service your R&D and QC needs.
We specialize in surface analysis, microscopy, and microanalysis. Specific applications include coating characterization, thin layer contaminates, interface characterization, bond failures, step coverage, corrosion investigations, fracture analysis, and crystallographic phase identification.
Current and past R&D activities have encompassed semiconductor memories and switching networks, NiMH batteries, amorphous silicon materials for photocopier and solar cell applications, rare earth permanent magnets, thin-film hard and decorative coatings, CD-RW, DVD-RW, flat panel TFT displays, superconducting materials, multilayer x-ray mirrors, solid phase hydrogen storage, fuel cells, and Peltier thermoelectric devices.
Our laboratory personnel have a wide range of expertise based upon their experience in research, failure analysis, and quality control.
